Meet the Pastor
We as a congregation are excited...no, we as a congregation are really excited. After almost one and one-half years of meetings, updating our own church profile, detailed examination of candidate profiles, watching DVD’s, listening to CD’s, interviewing and discussions, the Search Committee completed its arduous task of recommending a call that would bring a new pastor to Central Congregational Church. On Sunday, May 17, 2009 slightly past 11:00 a.m., Moderator Dan Sabo called to order a Special Congregational Meeting for the sole and distinct purpose for the congregation to vote on the acceptance of Rev. Harry Buch as Central Congregational Church’s next pastor. The outcome was an overwhelming approval of Rev. Buch as our new minister. Following the meeting Rev. Buch, Moderator Dan Sabo and the chairperson of the Search Committee,Terry Fleisher signed the mutually accepted Call Agreement.
On Saturday, May 16th the Women’s Fellowship Hospitality Committee provided a morning brunch for church members and friends to meet both Pastor Harry and his delightful wife Pam. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and an opportunity to begin to know each other. On Sunday, after the Congregational Meeting, another time of fellowship took place in Fellowship Hall so that those who were not able to meet Pastor Harry and Pam on Saturday were able to do so at that time.
Pastor Harry, as do most pastors, has a commitment to his present church for a ninety-day notice upon his decision to accept a new call. Therefore, we have the opportunity to anxiously await his fulltime arrival in mid-August. In the meantime he will, from time to time, participate in some of Central’s activities and take whatever time that may be available to get to know as many of us as he is able during that period.
We are extremely pleased and extend a welcome to Pastor Harry and Pam, as well as we look forward to a long and glorious relationship...with God’s blessing and help.
