Our church groups are vibrant communities that foster fellowship, support, and spiritual growth. They provide a space for members to connect, share experiences, and deepen their faith through prayer, study, and service. Whether through small gatherings, outreach programs, or special events, these groups are essential in building strong bonds and enhancing our collective mission.

Known as the Sunshine Committee within the Board of Deacons, cards and notes are sent to members and friends of the church for many occasions: hospitalizations, illnesses, shut-ins, accidents, birthdays, anniversaries, or any other time a caring communication might be appreciated.
The purpose of our meal ministry is to encourage those of our church families who may have had surgery or a hospital stay.
Everyone at one time or another needs a little help when they are recovering. A meal is one way we can express our love for our church family. Jesus said we should show love for others and our meal ministry is a good way to show it.
Operating under the auspices of Women’s Fellowship, this Christian outreach and service group provides a meal after the funeral of a member and their families, as well as others determined by the Pastor, Deacons, or Women’s Fellowship members . The main course is usually purchased with volunteers bringing in a multitude of side dishes.
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Thursdays at 7:00 PM. All sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses are welcome. We have music and a robe for you. Did you sing in a high school choir, or do you sing in the shower? Here is your opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of others who appreciate the joy of vocal performance.

Before the pandemic there was a bell choir at Central Congregational. With enough personnel interested in ringing, there could be again. A full set of brass English handbells as well as hand chimes are available. There are also color coded bells for children’s bell performers.
All the women of Central Congregational Church are welcome to choose to participate in the activities of Women’s Fellowship.
A monthly meeting is held on the second Friday from September to June in Fellowship Hall at 12 noon. Ladies are invited to bring their lunch or just partake of the refreshments that are provided by other members. There is a time for fellowship as we enjoy lunch and each other’s company. Our meeting follows with occasional programs concluding the gathering. Several times each year the group will go to a local restaurant for a dinner out.
Devotions, refreshments, and sometimes programs are shared by members. The Sunshine Committee brings cards to meetings to send prayers and greetings to ladies unable to attend.
The group prepares the yearly Coffee Hour list for the church groups to take responsibility for providing refreshments each Sunday after worship. However, other church members are encouraged to help out in this capacity by signing up for a specific Sunday on the list in our Lounge.
During the Advent Season, angel ornaments are offered for sale to church members from our Angel Tree. Each year a different beautiful ornament is chosen.
Special activities may occur such as a Valentine Tea in February, a Rummage Sale, Mother-Daughter Banquet, or helping with the Christmas in the Village event in early December. Other branches of the group: collect cancelled postage stamps for a ministry that provides Sunday School materials for Spanish-speaking children; provide homemade greeting cards available at a nominal fee; and supporting local needs for women.
Men’s Club is a social group of Christian men who gather for a time of fellowship and service.
The ladies of the church make us a delicious dinner on the 4th Tuesday of each month, followed by a program of a guest speaker, a video of interest or just sitting around telling stories and enjoying one another. The club has performed many fundraisers over the years, most recently making Easter candy and Christmas gourmet popcorn. The money raised goes towards local charities and financing special needs of the church.
All are welcome, whether a member of the church or not!
Every month the Central youth get together for a time fellowship. A couple hours of fun activities, snacks, and just enjoying one another.
Past activities have included game nights, pumpkin painting, movie nights, making cookies or holiday candy for our shut-ins, seasonal parties, and more!
All youth ages from toddlers through high school participate and everyone is welcome whether a church member or a community neighbor.
Once a month Central members and friends gather to share in a potluck dinner.
Usually, but not always on a Sunday evening, we gather to break bread for a time of fellowship and recipe sampling. Bring a dish or dessert to share, enjoy our supplied beverages and get to know your fellow Christians a little better.

The Board of Christian Education promotes spiritual growth, a deeper understanding of the Scriptures, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through organized educational programs.
The Board is responsible for the organization, administration, and supervision of the education programs of the Church. They are also responsible for the function of the Sunday School for instruction in the Bible and Christian beliefs and values. The Board manages all educational programming and materials, camps and conferences, the Church Library, and other instructional aids.
The board of Worship and Music meets on the second Monday of each month at 4:00 PM. The members of this board choose the hymns for each Sunday throughout the year. They also organize the liturgists, those who read the scripture for services.
Seasonal activities such as the following are a part of their responsibilities: arranging for palms and Easter flowers, planning the annual picnic, ordering and placing the poinsettias for Christmas, assembling and setting out luminaries, and managing Hanging of the Greens. They work to make the worship experience pleasant and meaningful for all worshippers, be they regular members or visitors.
Trustees act on behalf of the congregation in managing the financial resources and the care of the church belongings to assure that the church’s mission is adequately supported. They oversee the church budget and its investments, as well as establishing and carrying out actions for repair and improvements of all church buildings, grounds, and furnishings. Trustees work with the other boards within the church council to advance the common goal of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ out to our community and beyond.
This group is open to anyone interested in planning and carrying out fundraisers for the purpose of benefiting those in need. To date we have been able to contribute nationally to the Kentucky flood relief of a few years ago and recently to Hurricane Helene victims in North Carolina. We have also been able to contribute to many local charities including Project Hope, Forbes House, Madison Ministerial Christmas Basket program, Madison Food Center, Sub Zero, Madison School’s Angel Fund, and Salvation Army Utility Shut Off program.
