Community outreach and spiritual growth in action
Madison Community Missions supports local missions, primarily the Madison Food Center. In January, we collect and distribute school supplies for children in the elementary school and hygiene bags for the children in the middle school.
Forbes House is the only domestic violence shelter in Lake County. Their nondisclosed location provides an ideal place for survivors in Northeast Ohio to heal from the trauma of abuse and rebuild their lives.
The Mission Committee is also accepting monetary donations for Forbes House as well as items on their Wish List. Their very informative website, forbeshouse.orq. includes Wish List items. Please consider supporting this important community mission. Thank you!
TTF’s mission is to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. Called to fight for the world’s most vulnerable people through their four main areas of focus: Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation, Orphan Care & Prevention, Profound Medical Needs, and Special Needs Ministry. TTF serves those who are hurting, marginalized, and trapped in darkness in 90 + countries and counting. TTF shares the Gospel with as many vulnerable people as possible to help them know their inherent value as children of God. TTF’s heart is to love Jesus and to love people. These teams deliver emergency medical aid to people in crisis, with humanitarian projects in more than 70 countries. This consists of treating a wide range of medical issues from disease outbreaks to malnutrition to war wounds. Nueva Esperanza meaning “New Hope” is a ministry that helps the poor children in Honduras gain the tools and skills needed to become pupils of Christ. These children then as young men and women can give back to their communities with the values they learned.
The children involved with Nueva Esperanza are taught biblical values, personal hygiene and academics. Food, clothing and medical care are also given. There are many single family homes in Honduras, children from these homes are being fed and taught during the day so that their parents can work to meet the needs of their families. Nueva Esperanza helps with the whole family unit and works with families to manage their responsibilities. Children return home each night and share their knowledge including the gospel.

Heifer International is also known as Heifer Project International. It is a global mission working with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the earth. It was founded 76 years ago on the philosophy “teach a man to fish.” It empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity. It is more than giving a handout. Heifer links communities and helps to bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. The animals provide partners with both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs, and honey that can be traded or sold at market.
When many families gain this new sustainable income, it brings new opportunities for building schools, creating agricultural cooperatives, forming community savings, and funding small businesses.
Families “pass on their gift” by sharing the training they receive, and pass on the first female offspring of their livestock to another family. The goal of every Heifer project is to help families achieve self- reliance by providing them the tools they need to sustain themselves, thanks to the generosity of donors.
Central Congregational Church’s donations have been used in the past to purchase an animal. Heifer International provides the following animals: goats, heifers, water buffalo, alpacas, llamas, sheep, pigs, fish fingerlings, rabbits, honeybees, ducks, chicks, and geese. Your donations will help to end world hunger and poverty by providing training, tools, and animals to families living in poverty around the world.

If giving cash, please enclose a note with your donation and write Heifer International on your note and envelope. Since 2006, Holy Joe’s Café has been sending free coffee to U.S. military bases around the world. Our mission is simple: serving a little bit of home to those who serve our country.
From our humble beginning collecting cans of coffee in a church in Wallingford, Connecticut, we’ve grown to serve billions of cups of coffee and helped open over 300 coffee houses throughout the world, mainly in the Middle East but also in places like Africa, Europe, and even on board Navy ships and in NATO military hospitals.

True Freedom Ministries is an evangelical, non-profit organization dedicated to reaching people locked in jails and prisons, the homeless, and those trapped in addiction across Ohio, with the message of the true freedom found only in Jesus Christ. This includes Men’s Prison Ministry, Women’s Prison Ministry, Juvenile Prison Ministry, Homeless Ministry, and Addiction Recovery Ministry Reformers Unanimous (RU). Project Hope for the Homeless is Lake County’s only homeless shelter. Since 1993, nearly 10,000 children and adults experiencing homelessness in Northeast Ohio have received shelter, care and guidance. When people of Madison or Madison Township have a choice of paying their utility bill or putting food on the table our church is there to help.
Through our missions and an annual fundraising dinner we are here to help the Salvation Army. Come join us to help our fellow brethren.
First to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to community crises. WCK’s work is guided by their belief that food is a universal human right. WCK serves meals to people recovering from crisis every single day. They remain deeply committed to serving delicious chef-prepared meals across the world.

The Madison Christian Ministerial Association (MCMA) has worked together with the Madison community, businesses, churches, and organizations to assist with the Madison Christmas Basket program for nearly 40 years. The recipients are the working poor, the elderly and those in the Madison community who have fallen on difficult times.

The Christmas Fund Veterans of the Cross has been caring for active and retired clergy and lay employees of the United Church of Christ for over 100 years. It provides emergency grants, supplementation of small annuities and health premiums, and Christmas “Thank You” gift checks each December to our
lower-income retirees.
Christmas Fund Veterans of the Cross, which The Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ uses to help church pastors and their families in times of need, is the Missions Board mission for December.
This is a note received by Veterans of the Cross: “Thank you all so very, very much! Keeping you all in my prayers. May the gift of your generous blessing spread wide and far.” A retired pastor’s widow and recipient of emergency assistance in 2020.
The United Church of Christ congregations and members have blessed the Christmas Fund Veterans of the Cross with their generosity for many years. This year your care and compassion will be especially appreciated by those servants of the church who are facing a time of need.
